Simplifying the Task of Applying For a Job

A company learns of a candidate through the resume they send. You should only make a resume after you’ve known what the company requires. It is ideal to outline the requirements of the company to help you write the best resume. Conducting industry research is also another element for writing a resume. Before a candidate can decide where they want to develop their career they should be conversant with the industry. Prior to writing a resume, some points should be considered by the candidate.

Resumes for Different Professions

There are different methods of writing resumes for professions such as teaching, insurance, healthcare, finance, marketing, banking, bio-technology and IT. This means that for each profile projects undertaken, skills description and career objectives are different.

There are some important points which should be covered for an efficient and attractive resume. These are:

Career Objectives; This is a section that should show the recruiter what job you are looking for in their company. Here you must reflect a clear work behavior vision and career goal.

Educational Qualifications; The new method of writing a resume does not necessarily demand that a resume should be in a table format. This section is written in a way that it shows the highest to the lowest education qualification.

For example, if the latest accomplishment was a Masters degree, it should be indicated with the marks attained and the year. This should ripple down to the lowest achievement, the grade attained and the year as well.

It could also be in bullet form as here below:

  • Completed a Masters in Data Science Grade A attained 95% in 2017
  • Pass in Data Science Degree Grade B attained 80% in 2015
  • Notice the course is first, the grade attained marks and finally the year of study.

Personal Achievements of the Job Seeker

Other achievements should go hand in hand with educational qualifications where the candidate should mention their achievements be they in sports or social events. If there any post graduation and graduation projects they should also be included here. Skills sets should also be mentioned so that the recruiter can assess if they match the requirements of the company. People who have experience make the best in this section. Here the applicant must describe other job profiles held, company names and number of years they worked there. In case the job applicant works in various positions then they must describe their responsibilities in full.

The Difference between a Curriculum Vitae And a Resume

It is important to note that curriculum vitae and resume are slightly different. A resume normally has not more than two pages but curriculum vitae can be longer. A CV or curriculum vitae includes a lot of the applicant’s details. It has all the details of the applicants, any research work is done, specialization areas, professional relevance to the position being applied for.

In other countries, a curriculum vitae is used for fellowship and internship, industrial skills description, research work, and international academics. A CV is a systemic and organized method of displaying records of academics outlining all the needed information. Candidates with several years of experience should write curriculum vitae instead of resumes.
